This database contains an index to Jewish marriage records in Poland from the 19th century. The index was created from records available on microfilm at the LDS Family History Library (and Family History Centers) from original records microfilmed at the Polish State Archives.

About the Family History Library (Microfilmed) Records:

There are more than two million vital records in the LDS microfilms of Jewish registers. Approximately 740 films have been indexed and another 650 are in progress. However, there are hundreds of films yet to be indexed and for which volunteers are needed. If the records for your town are not indexed and you are able to help index them, please write to [email protected]

About the Database:

Information contained in the index includes some or all of the following:

  • Surname

  • Given name

  • Father's name or patronymic for both bride and groom

  • Town

  • Year of registration

  • AKT or registration number

  • Film number or other reference data

What to do with your search results:

If you identify a record of interest, that's when more detailed research starts. As this database is only an index, it only provides the essential information needed to identify individuals. In order to gather all information available about an individual, you will need to obtain a copy of the original record referenced.

Use the source information provided in the search results to locate the original record. A reference to an LDS microfilm number should be provided. Records available on microfilm can be ordered and viewed at a local LDS Family History Center. To find a Family History Center near you, click here. Information contained in this database may be written in Polish. However, the original records used to create this index may be written in Polish, Russian, German or Hebrew.

For more information about this database, please visit the JRI-Poland website at www.JRI-Poland.org . This website provides a lot of information about this indexing project, including information about what records are available for which Polish towns, and how you can help get records for your town indexed, as well as a history of JRI-Poland and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). The website also provides a link to the JRI-Poland database, which provides a more comprehensive collection of Polish Jewish ancestral records.
